You might have heard of the Naruto theme park in Japan and wondering where is it located at and what’s inside the theme park, it is actually one of the three theme parks of Niijigen no Mori located at Awaji Island.

The three theme parks that made up Nijigen no Mori:
1) Naruto & Boruto Theme Park- Shinobi-Zato (Marked No. 3 in map above)
2) Crayon Shin-Chan Adventure Park (Marked No. 1 in map above)
3) Hi no Tori Night Walk (Marked No. 2 in map above)
The place marked No.4 on map above is a beautiful restaurant, while the place marked No.5 is a hotel.
Nijigen no Mori directly translate to 2D’s Forest, because the place is literally a forest, you will find the facilities and park are built in the mid of forest.

By theme park, don’t expect that it looks like the one at Universal Studios or Disneyland,
but it is more of athletic activities/mission based games instead of things like roller coaster or rides that you will find at the usual theme park.
1) Naruto & Boruto Theme Park- Shinobi-Zato

What to do in there?i. Complete the mission like the character in Naruto

Upon entering the theme park, you will receive scroll for you to solve the quiz and missions in the park, imagine yourself as a ninja and solves each of the missions that’s actually found in Naruto story line!

There are two missions that you need to challenge yourself with; a. Chi-no-maki – A series of mystery-solving task of the seal of Chakrab. Ten-no-maki – An athletic Maze

ii. Take photo with the 3D real size figures

iii. Eat Ramen that appears in Naruto – Ichiraku Ramen

iv. Buy lots of merchandise – If you are a Naruto fans you will not want to miss the opportunity to buy the official licensed merchandise

Ticket Price: i. Adult : 3300 Yen ii. Child: 1800 Yen Price inclusive of two missions and access to Ichiraku Ramen and goods shop.

2) Crayon Shin-Chan Adventure Park

The Crayon Shin-Chan Adventure Park is consist of two adventurous attractions and three other interesting mini spots.
i. Action Kamen Overwater Flying Fox
Basically it’s a flying fox sport that you will be wearing an Action Kamen helmet, gliding over a distance of 225m,
the fun part is that there will be a huge water gun attack by Black Mekmeke team. so expect to get slightly wet from this activity!

It takes about 30 mins to 1 hour of experience time with this flying fox game.
ii. Sengoku Karakuri Athletic Challenge

This is a huge athletic fort that built inspired by the movie Crayon Shin-chan: Fierceness That Invites Storm! The Battle of the Warring States.

There are different courses available with height of 1m, 3.5m, 4.5m and 8 m above the ground, each with different degree of difficulty.

Take the 1m height course if you are scared of height

Or challenge the 8m height course if you are looking for something exciting.
The total time needed will be around 30 min – 60 min, so combining with the flying fox game will take around half day of time.
The other 3 attractions of this adventure park is more of like a mini game or spot, for example
Kantam Robo, a playground for kids

They have AR adventure game that you need to take the photo of all the real life character figure inside the park using the AR app, through the app, you can see what the character is talking to you.

But it’s still a fun thing to do to take photo with the character of Shin Chan even if you can’t read Japanese!

Since the park won’t take you a long time to play around, you can visit the Naruto Theme Park in the morning, and visit the Crayon Shin-Chan in the afternoon, but it will be quite tiring as both parks have activities that take up your physical strength.
3) Hi no Tori Night Walk

Hi no Tori Night Walk is a romantic walking route in a forest, with the theme of the manga Hi no Tori (Phoenix) written by the renowned manga artist – Osamu Tezuka.

The length of this walk is about 1.2km, and you will be entering the story of Hi no Tori with the latest 2D projection mapping technology cleverly designed (by NAKED Inc.) along the route.

Ok, this can be quite scary to see at night.

This place is also highly recommended for couple because you can write the wish on the Ema (the small wooden plaques for wish that can be found in shrine), and it will be send to the Izanagi Shrine, which is renowned for love relation.

Nijigen no Mori is located at Awaji Island, which is close to Kobe (about 30km from Kobe), and the public transport route to there is as below;
Two ways to get there without driving:
1) Highway Bus
There are several options of the departure location of bus, from:
i. Kansai Airport
ii. Shin-Kobe station
iii. Osaka station
The highway buses are operated by Honshi Kaikyou Bus Co. or Willer.
2)Train + Ferry + Shuttle Bus
Lets say you are traveling from Osaka station,
I) Take train to Akashi station – 39 minutes traveling time

III) Take Ferry – Awaji Jenova Line from Akashi Port to Iwaya Port (530 Yen per way) – 15 minutes

Conclusion
These are the three main parks/facilities at the Nijigen no Mori, the activities are more toward mission/ outdoor athletic game style, you can visit all these three parks in one day as suggested in the one day plan of the official website, I bet it will be a complete different experience/ activities that can be done in Japan.
